 GER01 - DALSNIBBA MOUNT - Duration: approx. 3 hours - 2012
Long Bus Trip  Level of difficulty: easy  Panoramic Tour  Limited Availability  Snack  Geiranger is one of the most important holiday resorts in Norway. We will drive along mountain roads, discovering the beautiful mountains and farmland scenery before arriving in Djupvatn. From here we will continue to the top of Dalsnibba Mount (1,500 metres above sea level), so have your cameras at the ready as we admire a breathtaking view over mountains, glaciers and lakes. Refreshments of coffee and pastry will be served.
Please note: one snack per person is included in the price of the tour. For safety reasons, should the road to Dalsnibba Mount be closed due to snow, an alternative programme will be foreseen depending on the weather conditions on the day of call. During the call by MSC Poesia on 24 May 2012 the visit to Dalsnibba will be replaced with a visit to Eagle’s Bend.

 GER03 - HERDAL MOUNTAIN FARM - Duration: approx. 3.5 hours - 2012
Long Bus Trip  Level of difficulty: moderate  Panoramic Tour  Limited Availability  Tastings  We will take the coach and climb the exciting “Eagle Road” with its 11 hairpin bends, stopping at the “Eagle bend” from where we will enjoy a spectacular view of the natural rocky outcrop known as the pulpit and see the splendour of the “Seven Sisters” waterfall and the fjord below. After a one-hour scenic drive we will reach one of the many summer mountain farms in the area where we will stop for a visit and to sample typical Norwegian products before returning to Geiranger.
Please note: if on some dates the road is closed for snow the visit to the farm may be down in the valley at the Home Mountain Farm. Program to be reconfirmed during your cruise.

 GER04 - GEIRANGERFJORD BY RIB BOAT (1 1/4 hours) - 2012
Level of difficulty: difficult  Panoramic Tour  Limited Availability  Start the tour with a short walk from the tender pier in Geiranger to board a RIB boat ( a safe, rigid inflatable boat ) to behin our journey around the magnificent Geirangerfjord, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will be able to enjoy the true splendour of the unique fjord landscape from the water as we admire the many waterfalls and stunning picture-postcard Nordic landscape. The boat will take you to the end of the Geirangerfjord and all the way to Oaldsbygda ; we will sail close to the waterfalls and enjoy great views of the fjord farm where the people of the Geirangerfjord lived and worked a hundred years ago. Have yoyur cameras at the ready as the RIB-boat will make short stops during the tour at scenic spots so you can take pictures without leaving the boat. This excursion makes for a really special way to discover the delights of this this marvellous fjord from a new and unique perspective.Note : warm, rain and windproof suites will be provided to all passengers.  GER05 - SCENIC GEIRANGER ( 2 hours ) - 2011
Long Bus Trip  Level of difficulty: easy  Limited Availability  We start our tour along the fjord for a little while before suddenly the road starts winding up the mountainside in 11 hairpin-bends. At the uppermost bend, called the Eagles Bend, we stop to enjoy the fantastic view in front of us. In the distance we can see old farms, stubbornly clinging on narrow shelves high above the fjord. For generations, families were able to make a living up there and today great efforts are being made to restore and preserve these relics of the past. We return via the same road which was completed in 1952 passing several farms where some of the buildings are more than 200 years old. We drive through the village of Geiranger, passing the little octagoanl church before we ascend to the viewpoint Flydal gorge, a well-known sight from many posters. We make a stop here to take in the fabulous view and photograph our ship down on the fjord before we return downhill once more.Note : limited seats.  GER06 - NORWEGIAN FJORD CENTRE & SCENIC GEIRANGER ( 3 hours ) - 2011
Long Bus Trip  Level of difficulty: easy  Limited Availability  The Geirangerfjord is undoubtedly one of the most fascinating sights in Norway. The mountains tower above us on both sides and we pass several waterfalls with stories to their names like the Suitor, the Bridal Veil and the Seven Sisters. We start our tour driving along the fjord for a little while before suddenly the road starts winding up the mountainside in 11 hairpin-bends. At the uppermost bend, called the Eagles Bend, we stop to enjoy the fantastic view in front of us. In the distance we can see old farms, stubbornly clinging on narrow shelves high above the fjord. We return via the same road which was completed in 1952 passing several farms where some of the buildings are more than 200 years old. Ascending the Geiranger road that links the district with eastern Norway during the summer months we pass several hotels and right opposite lays the Norwegian Fjord Centre. The Centre is meant to be both an Information as well as en Experience Centre. Visitors will be able to study exciting exhibitions around various themes such as nature, culture and history. The Centre provides an insight into life on the inaccesible famrs that cling to the sheer mountainsides around the fjord. The information comes alive via sound and images. A simulated avalanche provides a graphic demonstration of the forces of nature at their wildest. After the visit we head further uphill to the famous Flydal gorge viewpoint, passing several camping sites on the way. We make a stop here to take in the fabulous view and photograph our ship down on the fjord before we return downhill once more.Note : limited seats.  HEL01 - TRANSFER FROM HELLESYLT TO GEIRANGER ( full day with lunch) - 2012
Long Bus Trip  Level of difficulty: easy  Limited Availability  Lunch or dinner included  Leave the vessel and from Hellesylt you will drive to Hornindal Lake, the deepest lake in Europe at 514 metres. We will continue to the village of Stryn situated on the Nordfjord and drive across the Stryn Mountain, passing waterfalls and mountain lakes. We will then reach Dalsnibba Mount, 1500 metres above sea level : this is a great spot for taking photos as it affords magnificent views over Geirangerfjord. After a short stop we will begin the the descent back to Geiranger passing the famous Flydal viewpoint. Please note: for safety reasons, should the road to Dalsnibba Mount be closed due to snow, an alternative programme will be foreseen depending on the weather conditions on the day of call.  HEL02 - TRANSFER FROM HELLESYLT TO BRIKSDAL GLACIER ( full day with lunch) - 2011
Long Bus Trip  Level of difficulty: difficult  Limited Availability  Lunch or dinner included  From Hellesylt we will drive through the pretty Norwegian farmland of imposing mountains and glittering lakes. Continue along the shores of Olden lake to reach Briksdal Mountain Lodge from where we will walk up to the Briskdal Glacier, an arm of the Jostedal Glacier and the largest in continental Europe. After the walking enjoy a typical lunch and then you will continue by bus climbing the Stryn Mountain Road, the old connection between western and eastern Norway. Head through several tunnersl before we start the descent to Geiranger through a kaleidoscope of mountain farms, waterfalls and lakes.Note : this excursion is not recommended to guests with mobility problems or to elderly people.
