MSC Cruises travel to Norway, calling at a whole host of destinations including the capital city, Oslo, Bergen which is listed as a UNESCO world heritage site, Stavanger, Flåm, Hammerfest and Geiranger, Honningsvaag, Kristiansand, Leknes, Molde, Tronheim, and Olden. Each will seem more beautiful than the last, and all have something to offer every passenger, from keen walkers to families with young children.

Geiranger Fjord in many ways epitomises all the good things about a cruise to the Norwegian Fjords. This spectacular 100km (that’s 62 miles in old money) long stretch of water passes through spectacular glacial scenery to reach a small and wonderfully quaint little town. On your way to the town of Geiranger you’ll pass famous landmarks like the Seven Sisters waterfall (assuming there’s been some rain and snow on the high mountains) and mighty Mount Dalsnibba where a trip to the summit – often snow covered even in summer – offers truly magnificent views.

Further north, a visit to Tromso is your gateway to the land of the Midnight Sun and one of the best locations on Earth to catch the extraordinary natural light show that is The Northern Lights.

Bergen is a favourite port of call amongst cruisers from all over Europe and, indeed, the world. If you want to experience an authentic slice of Norwegian life, head for the busy fish market for a seafood lunch. For an overview take the funicular railway to the top of Mount Fløyen – it’s a spectacular view even on a cruise full of spectacular views.

History permeates Norway, and the times of the Vikings will be a major draw for many cruise travellers. Vikings monuments and settlements still remain and can be visited all over the country. If you travel north – perhaps to Hammerfest – you may witness the Northern Lights, nature’s weird and wonderful light show that takes place in the winter months. From quaint mountain farms to wonderful boat rides into the fjords, to energizing treks with waffles and hot coffee up the mountains to travelling on Europe’s most spectacular railway (Flåm), Norway is a truly magical cruise holiday destination.
