A crossroad between East and West

“Those who seek paradise on Earth should come to Dubrovnik” so wrote the famed British playwright, George Bernard Shaw when he first visited the town.

Dubrovnik is the capital of South Dalmatia, in Croatia and reputed to be one of the most beautiful places in the world. Many writers and holiday-makers remain enthralled by its charm and the town is fondly known as both the Adriatic Pearl and the Slav ‘Athens’. Anyone who has the chance to visit at least once will surely agree.

If you’re a first time visitor, why not get to know Dubrovnik better and join our city tour – it’s a wonderful way to spend the day away from your luxury MSC cruise liner and you can be certain to enjoy the best deals on Dubrovnik’s top sights and attractions.

Otherwise we recommend taking advantage of our other excursion packages and exploring Dubrovnik’s environs; with a stunningly rugged coastline soaring above crystalline turquoise waters, a boat ride to St Jacob’s beach will allow you to experience this exquisite coast at its best.

For a true taste of the region, make your day away from ship slightly different and witness folk traditions laid on in the local village of Konavle.

Whether you’re sampling fresh local food and wine, wandering the city walls or basking in the Dalmatian sun, Dubrovnik represents a real treat along your Mediterranean cruise vacation.

Port average temperature

The climate along the Dubrovnik Region is a typical Mediterranean one, with mild, rainy winters and hot and dry summers. However, it is perhaps distinct from other Mediterranean climates because of the unusual winds and frequency of thunderstorms.

The Bura wind blows uncomfortably cold gusts down the Adriatic coast between October and April, and thundery conditions are common all the year round, even in summer, when they interrupt the warm, sunny days.

The air temperatures can slightly vary, depending on the area or region. Typically, in July and August daytime maximum temperatures reach 29 C, and at night drop to around 21 C. More comfortable, perhaps, is the climate in spring and autumn when maximum temperatures are typically between 20 C and 28 C.

The temperate figures shown are based on monthly average weather conditions for the selected port. Weather data is not real-time, and sometimes no data is shown for a specific date, month or port in general.
