23nd November 2023: With Brits now swapping social media in favour of film and TV for their travel inspiration, MSC Cruises has rounded up their favourite destinations from the silver screen. From scenic Copenhagen to the real cruise ship where Channel 5’s new series ‘The Good Ship Murder’ was filmed, here are four destinations to inspire your 2024 trips which you can reach on board an MSC Cruises sailing.

Barcelona, Spain
The new Channel 5 series, The Good Ship Murder, sees a former detective pursue his dream of becoming a cabaret singer on board a Mediterranean cruise ship, but is thrust into his old world when a series of murders take place. The show is set in locations throughout the Mediterranean with scenes filmed on board MSC Virtuosa, a British favourite cruise ship. Jump on board an MSC Cruises sailing and into sets from the show like the Sky Lounge and MSC Yacht Club, then disembark and enjoy spots like the picturesque Barcelona. Discover the allure of Barcelona's historical heritage with a visit to the iconic La Sagrada Familia, a masterpiece renowned for its architectural brilliance and spiritual significance. Alternatively, try destinations such as Sicily or Lisbon on a Mediterranean sailing and get lost on postcard perfect beaches with azure waters and golden sand. On board, you can experience the ship's unique features like the Starship Club, including Rob, the first robotic bartender at sea and the iconic Carousal Lounge.

How to visit: You can experience life onboard MSC Virtuosa on the 28 September 2024 sailing direct from Southampton for 14 nights starting from £1,189pp. Book here.

Copenhagen, Denmark
The series Copenhagen Cowboy, released earlier this year has divided critics and is set in the postcard perfect streets of Copenhagen. To visit, jump on board an MSC Cruises sailing which stops in the city. You can enjoy some of the classic must see tourist destinations such as Rosenborg Castle or Tivoli Gardens or explore some of Copenhagen’s hidden gems, discovering picturesque streets and eat some of Denmark’s famous smørrebrød in quaint cafes. Sail there on MSC Cruises’ newest ship, MSC Euribia, and enjoy one of the longest LED domes at sea which is home to the largest shopping area on any cruise ship. The best part? No need to get on a plane, just head down to Southampton port and get on board.

How to visit: You can try it on the 23rd April 2024 sailing direct from Southampton on board MSC Euribia, available from £799pp for 7 nights here.

Abu Dhabi, UAE
The latest film in the Mission Impossible series released earlier this year, Mission Impossible 7 - is set in destinations including the United Arab Emirates, with a large part of it filmed in Abu Dhabi. An MSC Cruises sailing around the UAE would be a perfect way to explore this beautiful nation and enjoy the region's rich fusion of the ancient and modern. Explore old Abu Dhabi sights like the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, or embrace the modern and visit Yas Mall. For a more relaxed trip, relax on one of Abu Dhabi’s beautiful beaches like Saadiyat Beach with its light blue waters, golden sand and rolling dunes.

How to visit: Try it on the 17 February 2024 sailing from Dubai around the UAE on board MSC Virtuosa, starting from £1,159pp, which includes flights from Birmingham, Manchester and Dublin here.

Bridgetown, Barbados

Outer Banks has been a popular series since its debut in 2020, with a third season released earlier this year and another due next year. Multiple episodes throughout the series were filmed in Bridgetown, Barbados, and a Caribbean sailing would be the perfect way to enjoy some sets from the show as well as other idyllic locations in the region. Explore the rich history of the island at sights like George Washington House, or relax at the postcard perfect Carlisle Bay, with its white sand and crystal blue waters.

How to visit: Try it on the 6th February 2024 sailing direct from Bridgetown around the Caribbean on board MSC Seaside, starting from £1939pp, including flights from London Gatwick here.
