Bogliasco
If you're looking for somewhere to have a relaxing, quiet day at the beach with your small children, then Bogliasco is the ideal choice. Small stone beaches are found in between cliff faces and there are places to get refreshments throughout the day too. In addition, the sea is said to be perfect for surfing - if you fancy being a little more active. There's also a Roman bridge that is worth making the trip down the beach of Bogliasco to see.
Lavagna
Lavagna is the perfect family beach. Whether you want to swim, take a stroll or play, the pristine sand is one of the best places to head to on the Italian Riviera. It has been given awards for its cleanliness so it's unsurprising that it's become such a favourite for families with younger children. The city centre is also just a few minutes’ walk away if you want to look for more refreshments than those provided at the beach itself.
Sestri Levante
You won't find a beach like Sestri Levante anywhere else in the world. Its views over the beautiful house facades of the nearby village that is connected to the beach itself are unique, while it is also perfectly placed to take a gentle walk along one of the many paths around the promenade. You can also hire e-Bikes to tour the local area or visit the other bays along this part of the coast.
Camolgi
Camolgi's rock beach is the perfect place to relax and unwind. If you have little ones that are unlikely to sit still for very long, boat tours are available to take you around the coast, while you can be in the city centre within a few minutes. Children will love the brightly coloured houses of the village, which you can see from the beach itself or head into the town to explore it in greater detail.
Zoagli
The large promenade on Zoagli is its most obvious draw for families of all sizes, offering plenty of opportunities to take in the outstanding views. However, it is also one of the cleanest beaches so is ideally suited for paddling with your little ones, which is why it's so popular for family cruises. The nearby village is easy to access if you or the kids get a little restless.
Portofino
If it's crystal clear water you're looking for, look no further than Portofino; the sea here is stunning. There's a nearby natural harbour that makes for fantastic views but also gives you some entertainment if you want to explore a little more of the area. Parking is at a premium at Portofino so it's advised that you take public transport. Buses are frequent and well placed to drop you off at the beach, harbour or even in the town centre, depending on where you're heading. From Santa Margherita Ligure it will take you less than 20 minutes and from Genoa it takes just over an hour.
