Cruises to and from Naples (Pompeii), Italy

Naples cruises: Discover Pompeii, Sorrento and Capri

Crammed with ancient architecture, cathedrals and churches, it’s no wonder the Historic Centre of Naples is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Dip into it all on a Naples cruise, starting with a visit to medieval Castel Nuovo and its view to Mount Vesuvius, looming over the Bay of Naples

Afterwards, be swept up in the busy streets of Spaccanapoli, lined with artisan workshops, before delving into the city’s past in underground catacombs, located in Rione Sanità. Visit world-famous museums, such as the Capodimonte, with its collections of Baroque and Renaissance art, including works by Titian and Caravaggio. And then there’s the food, from Neapolitan pizza to fine dining.

Better yet, combine your Naples cruise with an excursion to Pompeii, the archaeological site that lay buried for 1,700 years following the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD.

Today, visitors can walk the cobbled streets and admire the mosaics adorning the villas of the town’s wealthiest families.

Back in the present day, a cruise to Naples, also lets you live the glamorous life in CapriSorrento and the Amalfi Coast.

How to reach Naples cruise terminal

Where do MSC Cruises' ships dock in Naples?

MSC Cruises' ships dock at the cruise terminal known as Stazione Marittima when arriving in Naples, located at Molo Beverello. The address is: Molo Angioino, Stazione Marittima, 80133 Napoli.

The cruise terminal and pier are located approximately 15 minutes away (on foot) from Piazza del Plebiscito, considered by many to be the main square in Naples. However, the centre of Naples covers a large area, with the Napoli Centrale rail station and Centro Storico both also less than a 30-minute walk from the cruise terminal. The closest metro station to the cruise terminal, Municipio, is around 300 metres from the pier.

How do I reach the car park at Naples cruise port?

The car park at Naples cruise port is located at Molo Angioino Stazione Marittima on Molo Beverello, just in front of the cruise terminal and a short walk away from where MSC Cruises' ships dock.

The port is signposted around the city centre and when approaching Naples, and the entrance is located off Via Marina, the main street traversing the coast. If driving from the city centre, you will need to get to Via Marina to enter the port. If driving from the west, simply turn right into the port entrance when you reach it, but if driving from the east, you will need to turn back on to the eastbound lane where possible, by following signs to 'porto'. Once entering the port gates, take an immediate right and continue until the second roundabout with the Stazione Marittima on your left. The car park is situated in front of the terminal.

How to get to the Naples cruise port from the train station?

If you are arriving in Naples by train, you will most likely find yourself at the city's main station - Napoli Centrale - located just under three kilometres from the cruise terminal.

Walking from Napoli Centrale to the cruise terminal should take around 40 minutes, and the route is fairly straightforward. Walk to the other end of Piazza Giuseppe Garibaldi and take the street diagonally to the left of Piazza Mancini - Corso Umberto I. Continue until Università metro station and then take the immediate left at the roundabout onto Via Marchese Campodisola. At the end of this street is the entrance to the port. Once inside the port gates, take a right and walk for around 500 metres until you reach the cruise terminal on Molo Beverello.

You can also reach the cruise port from the train station via public transport. There is a metro station, Garibaldi, located next to Napoli Centrale, from which you can take Line 1 towards Piscinola. Stay on the metro for three stops until Municipio, which is a five-minute walk from the cruise terminal.

There are also some bus routes which can take you to the cruise terminal from the main train station, including the airport shuttle bus which departs every 15 minutes or so, while taxis are abundant in the area and trips should take around 15 minutes to reach the port.

How do I get from Naples Airport to the cruise port?

Naples International Airport is located to the northeast of Naples and around seven kilometres from the cruise port. The airport is served by both taxis and buses, both of which should take around 30 minutes to reach the cruise terminal. The Naples Airport bus leaves every 15 minutes and only makes one stop on its way to the cruise terminal at Napoli Centrale rail station. There is no metro station located near the airport.

How far is Naples from the cruise port?

The cruise port in Naples is conveniently located just a few minutes away from the central area of the city.
