Rising from the sands like a religious vision, Old Skagen Church showcases the remains of what was once a fully operational gothic chapel. Constructed in the 14th Century, the building was partially buried by nearby dunes. Now, all that remains is its distinct white tower.

For art enthusiasts, a visit to Ancher Hus will offer a glimpse into the lives of painters Anna and Michael Ancher, and their daughter Helga. The museum is also home to several thousand artworks by international painters - with 250 on display in the residence. 
Admire period furniture and exotic objects from the family's many travels. Then, finish the day at Skagens Museum where you can view curated works by prominent artists who once lived and painted in town.

For those with a penchant for fairy tale architecture, venture to Voergaard Castle, a moated Renaissance manor. Dating back to 1481, this romantic building houses an important art collection featuring some of the world's best-loved painters. 
Gaze upon works by Francisco Goya, Raphael, El Greco, and Peter Paul Rubens. The opulent interiors also boast furniture belonging to two French kings: Louis XIV and Louis XVI.
Further afield, Bangsbo Hovedgaard will enchant with its many exhibits detailing the highs and lows of Danish life. Housed in a glorious vanilla-white manor, the site was once a drawcard for Scandinavian writers and artists who flocked here in the 1900s. 
Learn about seafaring in the Middle Ages and Denmark's German occupation. Bangsbo's coastal museum also offers a charming café where you can enjoy a meal and a charming giftshop selling souvenirs.
