Eastern Mediterranean Cruises

Breathtaking coastal scenery, age-old ruins, traditional cuisine – explore it all and much more with MSC Cruises.

Want to experience the ancient ruins of Greece and Turkey, the spectacular lakes and waterfalls of Slovenia and Croatia, or the picturesque towns of Italy and Montenegro – filled with history – without having to plan out all your journeys? An Eastern Mediterranean cruise is the way forward.

One of the best things about our cruises to Eastern Mediterranean countries is the diversity they offer – not just in terms of destinations, but also landscapes, cultures and activities. On any given day, you might find yourself cruising the Bosphorus in Istanbul (floating between two continents as you sail), marvelling at the imposing Roman gates of Diocletian’s Palace in Split, Croatia, or lying on a sunny Greek beach in Cephalonia or Corfu.

You may be admiring the impressive Millomeris waterfall near Limassol in Cyprus or kayaking around the Bay of Kotor. Or perhaps you’ll explore ancient cave dwellings in Matera, near Bari, go shopping in the quaint town of Oia on Santorini or enjoy a gondola ride on Venice’s canals.

Wherever your interests lie, indulge them on our Eastern Mediterranean cruises in 2026 and 2027.

ITINERARY HIGHLIGHTS

Eastern Mediterranean countries

Travel to Greece and the Greek islands, Italy, Croatia, Montenegro, Turkey and beyond on one of our Eastern Mediterranean cruises in 2026 and 2027. Depending on your itinerary, your ship might venture to them all or focus on a few key destinations, which you can explore in depth.

Greece combines beatific beaches on islands like Corfu and Mykonos with ancient ruins like the Acropolis in Athens. Croatia has similar appeal, with areas like the historic Old Town of Dubrovnik complementing beautiful Banje Beach – and not forgetting natural marvels like the waterfalls of Plitvice Lakes National Park and Krka National Park. Italy boasts wineries and medieval towns near Ancona, ancient caves near Bari and fairytale Venice. Montenegro’s immense landscapes blend mountains and sea, while Turkey offers important archaeological sites like Ephesus, beaches and the cosmopolitan buzz of Istanbul

ITINERARY HIGHLIGHTS

Italy Cruises

When it comes to holidays in Italy, the country’s east offers a unique cultural experience.

Bari is the gateway to sites like the UNESCO-recognised Sassi di Matera cave network and the ‘trulli’ – conical limestone houses – in the town of Alberobello. From Brindisi, visit Ostuni – a pretty città bianca (‘white city’, named due to its swathes of whitewashed houses) – and Lecce, the ‘Florence of the South’, housing Roman ruins and Spanish Baroque architecture.

Our cruises to Italy also stop at Ancona, for winery visits, beaches and access to medieval Urbino, as well as a handsome hilltop cathedral – Cattedrale di San Ciriaco – supplying panoramic city views.

We also visit the cosmopolitan city of Trieste. Discover its literary heritage on a tour around the piazzas and theatres, before stopping at a local winery. Also visit elegant, 19th-century Miramare Castle for more city history.

An Italy cruise wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Venice. Don’t miss the magnificent Doge’s Palace and its centuries of history, which you could combine with a bucket list gondola ride, or perhaps even a trip to the island of Murano to learn about glass-blowing.

ITINERARY HIGHLIGHTS

Greek Islands Cruises

For epic scenery, traditional villages and dreamy beaches, a cruise to Greece is the way forward. Every destination has its own character.

On a Greek Island cruise, sample Santorini’s charming, whitewashed villages on an excursion to Oia and Fira, and witness Mykonos’s delightful juxtaposition of buzzing and peaceful scenes on a coach tour of the island. Soak up the blissful beaches of Cephalonia, Corfu and Syros, or explore the ruins of Kamiros and ancient temples on Rhodes

While on your Greek Island holidays, make sure to visit the mainland, too. Katakolon affords access to Olympia, where the Olympic Games originated (you can still see remnants of the stadium and training areas), while Athens combines urban life with historical wonders – learn about the area’s storied past at its National Archaeological Museum or book an excursion that visits the famed Acropolis and the flower-strewn Plaka neighbourhood.

ITINERARY HIGHLIGHTS

Montenegro Cruises

Despite outstanding mountain landscapes, medieval towns and beach retreats, Montenegro remains something of a hidden gem. Discover its picturesque towns – including Kotor and Bar – on a Montenegro cruise with us.

Kotor (perhaps the country’s best-known destination) stuns with its Old Town (part of a UNESCO World Heritage site), set against the backdrop of Mount Lovćen. See it on foot, via cable car or from the water on a boat or kayaking tour.

Bar is another charming coastal destination. Its Old Town is encircled by fortress walls built and adapted over centuries, while nearby, you can find the centuries-old Bar Aqueduct, stretching across a verdant valley.

Book an excursion to explore other fascinating areas of Montenegro, including Lake Skadar – the largest in the Balkans – and beach resort Budva, sometimes called the ‘Montenegrin Miami’ for its nightlife and beaches.

ITINERARY HIGHLIGHTS

Turkey Cruises

From Byzantine ruins at Ephesus to Ottoman palaces and mosques in Istanbul, history and culture underpin any visit to Turkey. Get to know this complex land with MSC Cruises.

On a Turkey cruise, stop at Istanbul, a thriving city spanning two continents. Take in the sights and sounds of its Grand Bazaar, marvel at the world-famous Blue Mosque or take a scenic dinner cruise on the Bosphorus.

Kuşadası is another richly rewarding location, affording access to historic sites, plus opportunities for chilling out at beach clubs and learning about traditional Turkish culture in rural villages.

The city of Izmir provides similarly varied experiences. Glimpse past civilisations on excursions to the archaeological sites of Ephesus and Yeşilova Höyük, or relax on the sands after enjoying the thrum of urban life.

Nestled on Turkey’s southwest coast, Marmaris offers sea, sand and sun at spots like Amos Beach, and historical discovery on an excursion to the village of Dalyan and its ancient ruins.

POPULAR PORTS

Eastern Mediterranean Ports

Our cruises in the Eastern Mediterranean stop at a variety of ports in Greece, Turkey, Italy, Croatia, Montenegro and Slovenia. Key departure points for this region include historical Dubrovnik, the fairytale city of Venice, the volcanic island of Santorini, idyllic Corfu and vibrant Istanbul.

POPULAR PORTS

Venice - Marghera Cruises

One of the main ports for our Eastern European cruises is Venice – Marghera, a short water taxi ride from the main island. Once in the Centro Storico, you’ll be dazzled by the beauty of this romantic destination that’s interwoven with canals.

History and art permeate the city, making its architecture, palazzos and churches feel like an open-air museum. Make sure to also visit some of the actual museums and galleries, such as Doge’s Palace and the Murano Glass Museum.

Our cruises from Venice set sail for destinations such as Kotor and Bar in Montenegro, Zadar, Dubrovnik and Split in Croatia, the Italian cities of Bari and Brindisi, and also Corfu, Athens and Mykonos in Greece.

POPULAR PORTS

Santorini Cruises

Found in the southernmost area of the Cyclades, Santorini’s rugged landscape was formed by a huge volcanic eruption – known as the Minoan eruption – that took place around 1600 BCE.

There are multiple ways to experience this unique landscape when you book one of our shore excursions. View the volcanic caldera from the comfort of a catamaran when you sail out into the Aegean Sea or hop in a 4x4 vehicle for a close-up view, before travelling to the island’s gorgeous capital, Fira

And don’t miss Oia on your Santorini cruise, an atmospheric and much-photographed village on the edge of the caldera, offering whitewashed houses and gleaming blue domes. Also consider combining Oia with a trip to a winery, where you can sample local volcanic wines.

POPULAR PORTS

Dubrovnik Cruises

Enter Dubrovnik through one of its grand city gates for a suitably cinematic entrance to this magical city. The resplendent stairways, gleaming limestone streets, bubbling fountains and imposing city walls all conjure images of a fantasy realm.

Explore it fully on one of our walking tours and learn how those mighty city walls have been rebuilt and restored over centuries, or view the Old Town from above on a tuk-tuk tour that transports you to viewpoints and along the coast.

Alternatively, while on cruises to Dubrovnik, combine your sightseeing with relaxation time by booking an excursion that features time at nearby Banje Beach, or even a boat trip to Koločep, one of the Elaphiti Islands off the city’s coastal stretch.

POPULAR PORTS

Istanbul Cruises

The largest city in Turkey, Istanbul is a vibrant metropolis shaped by its duality: a place where two continents meet and cultures blend. As a result, it boasts a wealth of cultural, religious and historic attractions, including the Blue Mosque, Topkapı Palace (once home to Ottoman sultans) and the magnificent Hagia Sophia, formerly a Catholic church and a museum, and now a mosque once again – explore Hagia Sophia on a shore excursion that also takes you to Istanbul’s sprawling Grand Bazaar.

The Italian port cities of Trieste and Bari – as well as historical Greek destinations such as Athens and Katakolon (the gateway to Olympia), and the idyllic islands of Corfu and Mykonos – are all easily accessible on an Istanbul cruise.

POPULAR PORTS

Corfu Cruises

The northernmost of the Ionian Islands is surrounded by gorgeous waters, which can be enjoyed from beaches such as Barbati and Limnopoula, a beach club in the pretty village of Paleokastritsa or on a private boat tour to the island of Vidos, a protected nature reserve.

There’s plenty of history to discover on cruises to Corfu, including the Venetian architecture of Corfu Town, its fortresses and 19th-century Achilleion Palace (a summer residence for an Austrian empress).

Alternatively, you can uncover the island’s artistic side at the Museum of Asian Art Corfu – discover these sights and other attractions on our shore excursions, which let you experience Corfu at its finest.
